The Actress & Bishop, Birmingham After a long day of giving treatments to clients the synth x-mas event is just what the doctor ordered (although I was too shattered to stay the whole night). The evening was just as exciting as last year albeit it less people attended but those who were there made enough noise and the energy was great. Neil Francis started the evening off with a set that mostly consisted of well sung cover versions of classic synth acts including Yazoo or OMD but also featured his 2016 collaboration track (with DAYSOUND) ‘Deadender’ as well as ‘Connected’ the track the did with Shelter. His voice is simply amazing and he later joined Johnny Normal on stage to perform the song ‘Save me’ that Neil recorded somewhen in 2015 with Johnny.  xxx But let us not skip ahead. ‘The Glass Memorial’ were on next and with my eyes closed I could often here Ultravox vibes running through their slightly darker, more minim...

1991 - Kraftwerk

01.11.1991, Kongresshalle Frankfurt: KRAFTWERK „The robots“, „Autobahn“, „Tour de France“, „The model“, „Computerworld“ „Music non Stopp“ ... the list of hits of the cult band from Düsseldorf is really remarkable and after nine years of stage absence the “Robots” once more embark on a tour. The Kongresshalle (Congress hall) Frankfurt was sold out. The show was scheduled for 8 p.m. and the tickets cost DM 38,50,- (quite a lot back then) Shortly after 8 p.m. strange electronic noises echoed from the speakers still with the lights fully on. The sounds lasted for almost 15 minutes. Then they stopped: Showtime: “Ladies and Gentleman, Madame’s et Monsieur’s, Meine Damen und Herren: Die Mensch Maschine (The man machine)” ... After this introduction from the „Voice of energy“ Kraftwerk started the gig. Hutter, Schneider und co. „lifeless“ as usual. 2006 - "Hello young lovers" - an Interview with the SPARKS

On Thursday, the 23rd March 2006 I talked to Ron and Russell Mael better known as The Sparks. I was in Dublin and they were in L.A. – but separated somehow, therefore they set up a conference call and rang NEAR FM at 6p.m. on the dot. TJ: “Hello young lovers” is the title of your new album? (Pause) TJ: Isn´t it?? Ron and Russell: “Yes, it is (laughter) Ron: What a sharp question TJ: You thought I address you as “hello young lovers”, weren´t you? (laughs). Your new album sounded quite different to your big hit, well, I am from Germany, just to say that, so the biggest hit I ever heard from you is: “When do I get to sing ´my way´” which was a few years ago and now I have your latest single “Perfume” in front of me and that sounds very different.
