1988 - Peter Maffay plus special guests

1988 - "Lange Schatten" Tour

13.09.1988 Festhalle Frankfurt: Peter Maffay
featuring: John Mayall, Chris Thompson and Band

A sold out concert hall was the reward for a hard working band. Peter Maffay and band.

Old buddies like Steffi Stefan on Bass, Jean – Jaques Kravetz on keys, Bertram Engel on drums and Super saxophone player Eddie Cremer – they all were there to play. Maffay could have well stayed at home.

All musicians originally played in Udo Lindenbergs Panik Orchestra. Pity, that Peter and Udo were enemies at the time otherwise they could have played against each other in a 4 – 5 hour battle or something.

Chris Thompson, namely male vocalist of the Manfred Manns Earth Band, sang two songs from his solo album and played percussion.

Equal rights – Drummer Bertram Engel later sang the Procul Harum Hit: "Sad wings of destiny".

So much for nostalgia.

Finally Peter got to sing a few songs from the new album: "Lange Schatten".
Blues Harmonist John Mayall also cast long shadows with his virtuous performance.

"The last Mohican" Tony Carey, who had a solo hit with "Room with a view" couldn’t be there due to health problems.

Pity, I would have loved to see him live.

Maffay himself was excellent as well therefore the whole evening gets three stars.
