On Thursday, the 23rd March 2006 I talked to Ron and Russell Mael better known as The Sparks. I was in Dublin and they were in L.A. – but separated somehow, therefore they set up a conference call and rang NEAR FM at 6p.m. on the dot. TJ: “Hello young lovers” is the title of your new album? (Pause) TJ: Isn´t it?? Ron and Russell: “Yes, it is (laughter) Ron: What a sharp question TJ: You thought I address you as “hello young lovers”, weren´t you? (laughs). Your new album sounded quite different to your big hit, well, I am from Germany, just to say that, so the biggest hit I ever heard from you is: “When do I get to sing ´my way´” which was a few years ago and now I have your latest single “Perfume” in front of me and that sounds very different. 1996 - Hand in Hand for Children - Charity Event

07.04.1996 Festhalle Frankfurt Charity 96 – Hand In Hand For Children Backstreet Boys, Rednex, Culture Beat, Worlds Apart, Captain Jack, Scooter, Fun Factory, Masterboy, Mr. President, Boyzone TV – channel “VIVA” in association with “Radio FFH” gathered loads of celebrities for a charity event which took place in the Frankfurter Festhalle and the venue was absolutely jammed. “Hand in Hand for children” is a cancer awareness project. All proceeds raised from the five hours program including those proceeds raised through the forthcoming charity CD will go to this very organisation. All artists played royalty free and most of them had approximately 20 minutes on stage, where they were singing along to pre recorded music. As usual, there were good bands and rather dodgy artists along the line but I enjoyed the 3.5 hours I could spend in there. The VIVA DJs were brilliant and the bands were good animators. 2003 - Beauty and the beast ON ICE

27.03.2003 Point Theatre / Dublin Walt Disney’s Beauty & the beast On Ice Just to say: It was superb. Merchandising good were to be found on all levels of the Point Theatre. From torches with a built in rose to sweet dishes to Belle as a puppet wearing a golden costume to the beast as a teddy bear – everything your (or your children’s hearts) desire. The prices though were beyond daylight robbery. On the other hand side it is always great quality when it says: Disney! The show starts with a medley performed by Disney’s cult figures Mickey, Donald and Balu before the real play begins. With great humour and great skill the actors “fly” across the ice and even though it is clear right from the start that Belle will fall for the beast and thereby lifts the curse it was still nice to watch.
