16.10.2020 The Station, Cannock: Ed Force One

What the actual fuck is happening ?? - Venues are having a really tough time with all the Covid 19 restrictions nonsense as they can now sell much less tickets to any of their gigs and have table service throughout and masks have to be worn once away from your table. Iron Maiden tribute act Ed Force One were amazing but having a metal audience seated doesn't really make for a great experience. That being said, Ed Force One (named after Maiden's own tour plane) were absolutely amazing and had Maiden down to perfection. They played two sets and I had to leave after the first set of roughly an hour was over. 'Hallowed be thy name' , 'The Trooper' and 'Fear of the dark' were just some of the Maiden tunes Ed Force one performed and musically they were top notch. I was very impressed by the vocal range of Ed Force One's front man as it is quite a feat to emulate the amazing voice of one Bruce Dickinson. Great night out despite the restrictions that put a

It was the first post lockdown gig and it was glorious!! To allow for social distancing the venue only sold tickets to about 30% of their total capacity and it actually made for a relaxed and intimate gig. Dirty DC’s setlist was shorter than usual but included belters such as ‘Highway to hell’, ‘a whole lotta Rosie’ ‘Hells bells’ and ‘For those about to rock’ and Dirty DC were phenomenal and they sound just like ‘the real thing’. No wonder they’re selling out gigs wherever they go – absolutely awesome yet super approachable and down to earth. Before and after Dirty DC’s set legendary DJ ‘Custard Beast’ entertained the crowd with rock classics and he played many requests asked for by the audience and he even played KISS twice when I asked for a tune of theirs. The people at the Station were all super nice and that included all bar and music related staff – long live the Station, what an amazing night out that was. photo credit: Penny Minnis & Thomas Janak

22.02.2020 The Station, Cannock: Rammlied & Sulpher

My beautiful girlfriend Penny and Rammlied We have had many a perfect night out at the Station BUT this was the best. It was my third time seeing Sulpher at the Station and tonight they didn’t have a drummer and played as a duo aided by a drum machine and yet they were better than they’d ever been. The band was in good spirits, played their hearts out, interacted well with their audience and were simply a blast to watch. The main act Rammlied simply blew me away as they’re show also has dramatically improved since I saw them last. Maybe it was because they had a keyboarder tonight as I felt that at the last show, they were a bit limited while playing along to synthesizer sounds coming from a tape. Also, since Rammstein’s Keyboarder Christian ‘Flake’ Florenz is a bit of a character and his on-stage persona is flamboyant and funny, it was awesome to see Rammlied’s Flake being just that on stage. The show started off with ‘S

25.01.2020 The Station, Cannock: Dressed to Kill, support: Words may differ

With the soon retiring Kiss returning to the download festival in Summer 2020, the original masters of shock rock have, by their own admission, reached ‘the end of the road’ allowing us time to reflect on a 4 decades long career highlighting a band that was so different in so many ways and so successful that it is hard if not impossible to top their achievements. Any tribute band is up against the heroes they are trying to portray on stage and with Kiss’s live spectacles often called ‘the hottest show on earth’ it can’t be easy for a Kiss tribute band but the Station is an extraordinary venue with extraordinary people visiting for a good night out. And Dressed To Kill did not disappoint – but first things first: ‘Words May Differ’ opened for them on a chilly January night and they were simply great. Good humour and banter on stage and solid songs well performed made it a joy to see Words May Differ play their original songs which were available on their CD ‘Words may differ
